Disclosed in the present disclosure are a projection device and a method for displaying a projection image thereof, which method is applied to a display control circuit of the projection device. The display control circuit can divide a projection image to be displayed into a first sub-image group and a second sub-image group, and flip the first sub-image group. The display control circuit can then read pixels in each sub-image in the first sub-image group line by line in an ascending order of row numbers of the pixels, so as to obtain first display data, and synchronously read pixels in each sub-image in the second sub-image group line by line, so as to obtain second display data. Since a display control circuit can read pixels of each sub-image in a first sub-image group and each sub-image in a second sub-image group at the same time, the efficiency of the display control circuit reading the pixels is relatively high. On this basis, the efficiency of a digital micromirror device modulating an image light beam on the basis of first display data and second display data can also be relatively high.
