Abstract:
The present invention proposes a method for producing a metal iron having a low phosphorus concentration from a raw material containing iron oxide and phosphorus as components. This production method for a metal iron comprises a high-temperature reduction treatment step for heating a raw material containing oxides containing iron oxide and phosphorus as components, in a reducing gas atmosphere, to generate a metal iron obtained by reducing the iron oxide and a slag phase formed of oxides that have not been reduced and to cause the phosphorus to be contained in the slag phase. Preferably, the raw material is iron ore, or a component adjustment material-added iron ore obtained by adding and mixing a component adjustment material with iron ore, and the basicity of the raw material is at most 4.0. In the high-temperature reduction treatment step, preferably, the temperature and oxygen partial pressure fall within predetermined ranges, and the mixture after the reduction treatment is subjected to a pulverization and separation treatment or to a heating and dissolving treatment to separate the metal phase from the slag phase.
