Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/168467
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for removing iron oxide deposits such as rouging, golding and blacking of stainless steel, in which a solution of alkali formate and alkali sulfite is brought into contact with the stainless steel. According to the invention, the alkali is at least predominantly potassium and the alkali sulfite is an alkali hydrogen sulfite, as a result of which virtually neutral pH values of 5-7 are nevertheless possible with good action. A hydroxycarboxylic acid, in particular lactic acid or glycolic acid, is preferably additionally present in the solution.
