Abstract:
Provided is a pretreatment method for rubber that makes it possible for used rubber to be pyrolyzed such that there is little odor during the pyrolysis, such that the particularly volatile sulfur fraction and/or nitrogen fraction of the resulting pyrolysis product is effectively reduced, and such that the odor of an oil obtained by the pyrolysis is also reduced. According to the present invention, a pretreatment method for rubber involves pretreating a sulfur-crosslinked rubber in advance of pyrolysis. The pretreatment method is characterized by including a holding step for holding the sulfur-crosslinked rubber for at least 10 minutes under conditions that satisfy expression (1) and expression (2) to produce a pretreated rubber, the holding step being performed under an inert gas flow when the ambient pressure P is atmospheric pressure.
