Abstract:

Provided is a power transmission shaft comprising a metal shaft member and a resin shaft member which is interconnected with the metal shaft member in an axial direction. The resin shaft member is configured from fiber-reinforced plastic. The metal shaft member and the resin shaft member are joined through the portion where male splines provided on the outer peripheral surface of the metal shaft member and female splines are closely fitted to each other, the female splines being formed by press-fitting the male splines into the resin shaft member. An edge is provided at the outer-diameter edge section of the press-fitting start surface of the male splines of the metal shaft member.
