Abstract:
This plate glass production method is for a plate glass G in a vertical attitude, the plate glass G comprising a first region G1 and a second region G2 arranged to be adjacent in the width direction, and a scribe line S formed in the boundary portion of the regions G1, G2, on the side of the respective front surfaces Ga, Gx thereof, the method comprising a splitting step for applying, on the second region G2, a force directed toward the side of a back surface Gy by way of an external force application unit 4 in a state wherein a region of the first region G1 along the scribe line S is in contact with and supported by a supporting unit 3, thereby splitting the plate glass G along the scribe line S. As a pre-step to the splitting step, the mehod comprises an adjustment step for adjusting in the width direction at least one among the position at which the support unit 3 comes into contact with the first region G1, and the position at which the external force application unit 4 comes into contact with the second region G2.
