Abstract:
Provided is a piston ring which exhibits excellent resistance to abrasion caused by a mating member that is a cylinder or cylinder liner made of an aluminum alloy and which can reduce the abrasion of the mating member. A piston ring (10) which has a hard carbon film (14) formed on the outer peripheral surface (10a), wherein the hard carbon film contains W in an amount of 0.5 to less than 5at%.
