Abstract:
Provided is a piston ring that is for an internal combustion engine, can suppress wear of a piston material, and can prevent aluminum adhesion over the long term even in high-temperature, high-load conditions. The piston ring (1) for an internal combustion engine and in which an anti-aluminum-adhesion coating film (12) covers at least one of the vertical sides of a piston ring base material (11) is characterized in that the anti-aluminum-adhesion coating film (12) has: a first coating film (12a) that comprises a first ceramic material and that is formed on the piston ring base material (11); and a second coating film (12b) that has a lower Vickers harness (HV) than that of the first ceramic material and that is formed on the first coating film (12a).
