Title:
OPTICAL SYSTEM AND IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2024/004289
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided are an optical system which makes it possible to increase the filling factor of image light in a pupil in a field of view and decrease the size of an incidence region, and an image display device. An optical system (3) is provided with a light guide member (5). The light guide member (5) is provided with an incidence region (51) that causes image light (L1) to be incident on the inside of a main body part (50), and an emission expansion region (53) that has a diffraction structure for dividing image light (L1B) into a plurality of image light beams (L2) and emitting the plurality of image light beams from the main body part (50). The emission expansion region (53) branches the image light (L1B) into first to third image light beams (L11, L12, L13). The first image light beam (L11) and the third image light beam (L13) are emitted at different angles from the emission expansion region (53) and propagate through the main body part (50). The emission expansion region (53) includes an overlapping portion (53a) on which the first image light beam (L11) and the third image light beam (L13) are incident in a partially overlapping state. The optical path length difference between the first image light beam (L11) and the third image light beam (L13) that are incident on the overlapping portion (53a) is longer than the coherence length of the image light (L1).
