Provided is an oil-water separator configured so that water and sludge which are contained in oil such as fuel can be separated by allowing the water and the sludge to precipitate. A closed-end cylindrical case body disposed so that the center axis thereof is substantially parallel to the vertical direction is provided with a cover for closing the opening of the case body, the cover having a cylindrical inlet section for conducting oil to be filtered, into the case body, the cover also having a cylindrical outlet section for allowing filtered oil to flow to the outside from the case body. The case body has provided therein: a filter element having a smaller height than the case body and having a covered lower end and an upper end which is liquid-tightly mounted to the cover so that a hollow section is in communication with the outlet section; and a substantially cylindrical inner case having a smaller height than the case body and covering the outer peripheral surface of the filter element. The oil which is to be filtered flows in between the inner case and the case body from the inlet section and moves downward. Water and sludge which are contained in the oil to be filtered precipitate in a containing section formed vertically below both the filter element and the inner case.
