Abstract:

An oil ring with which sliding friction in a high speed running range of a piston can be reduced and having excellent ability to reduce fuel consumption. The oil ring has a substantially letter I-shaped cross section where two rails are connected by a column portion. Sliding portion projections formed on the two rails have sliding portion projection outside faces forming outside portions of the slide portion projections, sliding portion inside faces forming inside portions of the sliding projections, and sliding faces forming tip portions of the sliding projection portions. Sliding portion outside faces each have taper angles in the range between 10º and 60º. Outside edge portions at which the sliding portion projection outside faces and the sliding faces meet are formed in a curve, and the sliding faces have curve-faced sliding portions that meet sliding portion projection outside faces and have a curve-face form.
