Abstract:
An object detecting device (40) calculates a value relating to an amount of movement of a vehicle on the basis of the speed of the vehicle and time. Further, the object detecting device (40) calculates a value relating to a change in position of a reflection point of an object before and after movement of the vehicle, on the basis of position coordinates of the reflection point, from which an exploratory wave transmitted from a sideways ranging sensor (26) has been reflected. Then, if the value relating to the change in position of the reflection point is less than the value relating to the amount of movement of the vehicle, the object detecting device (40) determines that the reflection point is a corner of the object.
