Abstract:
Provided are: a non-asbestos friction material composition that can render a friction material having a low environmental impact compared to conventional products, a superior coefficient of friction, and superior crack resistance and wear resistance; a friction material using the non-asbestos friction material composition; and a friction member. The non-asbestos friction material composition contains a binder, an organic filler, an inorganic filler, and a fibrous base material; the amount of copper contained in the friction material composition is no greater than 5 mass% in terms of the element copper; the amount of metal fibers contained that are not copper or a copper alloy is no greater than 0.5 mass%; graphite having a particle size of no greater than 90 µm and mica are contained as the inorganic filler; and graphite having a particle size exceeding 90 µm is not contained.
