Abstract:
The invention relates to a new industrial process for manufacturing of 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexafluoropropane, and a new industrial process for manufacturing of a novel intermediate compound for manufacturing 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexafluoropropane, as well as to the novel compound 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexachloropropane itself. Surprisingly, it has been found that 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexafluoropropane can be manufactured via the novel compound 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexachloropropane, and thus advantageously by avoiding the use of phenol compounds as starting materials. The present invention provides an efficient and simplified new industrial process for manufacturing of the compound 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexafluoropropane and/or of the novel compound 2, 2-bis (3, 4-dimethylphenyl) hexachloropropane, and preferably enabling large-scale and/or industrial production of both by means of special equipment and special reactor design.
