Abstract:
A mounting structure for a boot for a constant velocity universal joint, where
a reduction in sealing ability of the boot is minimized even if it is used in a high-temperature
environment, so that stable the sealing ability is maintained for a long period.
Two circumferential ridges (23, 24) are formed on a boot mounting part (22) of
a shaft (9) of the constant velocity universal joint. A groove (20) is formed between
the circumferential ridges (23, 24), and a ring-shaped seal member (30) having
a smaller permanent compression strain amount than the material of the boot is
interposed between the groove (20) and the bore surface of a small diameter part
(11) of the boot (1).
