Abstract:
A motor drive device (30) includes a brushless DC motor (5) which drives a load, and a speed control unit (8) which determines a PWM ON-ratio for subjecting the brushless DC motor (5) to PWM control. The motor drive device additionally includes a PWM ON-ratio increasing and decreasing unit (9) which increases or decreases the PWM ON-ratio in accordance with the drive speed of the brushless DC motor (5), and a drive unit (10) which performs the PWM control for driving the brushless DC motor (5) in accordance with the PWM ON-ratio determined by the PWM ON-ratio increasing and decreasing unit (9). In segments in which the drive speed of the brushless DC motor (5) is less than a prescribed speed, the PWM ON-ratio increasing and decreasing unit (9) sets the PWM ON-ratio to be at most equal to the PWM ON-ratio determined by the speed control unit (8), and in segments in which the speed is greater than the prescribed speed, the PWM ON-ratio increasing and decreasing unit (9) sets the PWM ON-ratio to be at least equal to the PWM ON-ratio determined by the speed control unit (8).
