Abstract:
Provided is a motion guiding device with which spring characteristics and fatigue characteristics can both be improved by increasing the elastic effect of an entire track base while an effective hardened layer of a rolling element travel surface is ensured against loads incurred with motion of a moving member or traveling of a rolling element. A motion guiding device provided with a hollow track base in which a rolling element travel surface is formed along a longitudinal direction and which has a hollow part formed into a substantially rectangular shape in cross-section along the longitudinal direction, and a moving member in which a load rolling element travel surface is formed in a position of facing the rolling element travel surface, the moving member being assembled so as to be capable of moving in the longitudinal direction of the track base by means of a plurality of rolling elements between the rolling element travel surface and the load rolling element travel surface, wherein: in a cross section of the track base that is orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, a thermally treated area where a thermal treatment is carried out and a non-thermally treated area where no thermal treatment is carried out are formed in a region including the rolling element travel surface; and the thermally treated area does not overlap the corners of the hollow part.
