A mobile air conditioner and a control method therefor. The mobile air conditioner comprises: a water receiving disc (1), configured to receive condensate water generated by an evaporator (3) of the mobile air conditioner; a first water collecting area; a second water collecting area; a water guiding plate (8), which can selectively guide the condensate water in the water receiving disc (1) to the first water collecting area and/or the second water collecting area; and a controller, configured to control the water guiding plate (8) to guide the condensate water in the water receiving disc (1) to the first water collecting area, and under a condition that the water level in the first water collecting area meets a preset value, control the water guiding plate (8) to guide the condensate water in the water receiving disc (1) to the second water collecting area. When one of the water collecting areas of the air conditioner cannot collect condensate water, the water guiding plate can guide the condensate water to the other water collecting area, and thus the problem of potential safety hazards caused by not timely discharging the condensate water in the water receiving disc is avoided.
