Abstract:
The present invention relates to the technical field of clean energy, and discloses a method for using a hydride at room temperature to convert a carbonate to produce methane. Specifically, the following steps are comprised: in a protected atmosphere, placing a carbonate and a hydride in a ball mill, and at room temperature, using the ball mill to perform a ball milling reaction and then obtaining a methane gas. The present invention achieves the goal of conversion of a carbonate into methane at room temperature. By means of the reaction between the hydride and the carbonate, methane is generated and stored, providing a novel method for reasonable usage of carbonates. The hydride is used to substitute H2, thus simultaneously avoiding the the problem of H2 being unsafe. A solid product nanoscale Ni produced in situ in the process of reacting the hydride in the ball mill has a smaller grain size, and can be compared to traditional catalysts as a catalyst for the carbonate methanation reaction. Said catalyst has a higher catalytic activity in the conditions of a room temperature ball mill, and at the same time, a metal hydride can be re-obtained from the solid product by means of hydrogen absorption by hydrogenation, thus allowing for cyclical usage of the hydride.
