Abstract:
A method for separating zirconium, which is one of long-lived fission products (LLFPs), from a zirconium-containing radioactive solution (a high-level radioactive waste liquid), said method comprising adding molybdenum to the radioactive solution to form a precipitate comprising a product of a reaction between zirconium and molybdenum, and then separating the precipitate from the liquid. Thus, zirconium can be separated by the simple method and the recovery of other LLFP(s) can be facilitated.
