Abstract:
A method which is performed by a device in a multicast group and receives firmware comprises the steps of: (a) receiving i-th (where i is a natural number greater than or equal to one) data from among first to n-th (where n is a natural number greater than or equal to two) data transmitted using a multicast method from a firmware providing device; (b) acquiring, from the i-th data, information about segmentation of the firmware, a message authentication code (MAC) chaining value, length information, i-th firmware data, and a MAC; (c) comparing the MAC of the i-th firmware data with a value generated by calculating, using a first MAC generation algorithm, the MAC chaining value of the i-th firmware data, the length information, and the i-th firmware data, so as to authenticate the MAC chaining value of the i-th firmware data, the length information, and the i-th firmware data; (d) authenticating the sequence of the i-th firmware data by using the MAC chaining value of the i-th firmware data and a second MAC generation algorithm; and (e) acquiring the firmware by combining the first to n-th firmware data acquired through the performance of steps (a) to (d).
