Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is at least one among: preventing the contamination of an SMC production line; maintaining the cleanliness of mechanical elements included in an SMC production apparatus; preventing the failure of control devices equipped inside or around the SMC production apparatus; and preventing deterioration in work environments. A method for producing a sheet molding compound comprises (i) dropping short fiber bundles onto a traveling carrier film while dispersing the short fiber bundles using a dispersion roller device to deposit a fiber mat, and (ii) impregnating the fiber mat with a thermosetting resin composition, wherein: the dispersion roller device has a rotation-driven dispersion roll, a bearing, a first side cover, and a second side cover; the dispersion roller has a roll body and a roll body adjacent part; and the inner peripheral surface of the circular opening provided on each of the first side cover and the second side cover and the cylindrical peripheral surface of the roll body adjacent part face each other.
