Abstract:
Proposed is a method by which the achievement of energy saving and the reduction of CO2 emissions are possible when producing reduced iron from iron oxide. This method for producing reduced iron comprises: an iron oxide filling step for filling iron oxide into a reduction furnace; a reducing gas blowing step for blowing a reducing gas into the reduction furnace; a reducing step for reducing the iron oxide by means of the reducing gas in the reduction furnace; a methane synthesizing step for synthesizing a gas, which contains methane as a main component, from hydrogen gas and part of a furnace top gas emitted from the furnace top of the reduction furnace; and a gas reforming step for using, as a source gas, the methane gas and a furnace top gas excluding the furnace top gas content supplied to the methane synthesizing step, and heating the source gas to reform the source gas into the reducing gas, wherein the material balance in the process from the iron oxide filling step to the reducing step is controlled by adjusting the amount V1 of the furnace top gas supplied to the methane synthesizing step and the amount Vw of water vapor in the furnace top gas supplied to the gas reforming step, according to a variation in the ratio H2/C of H2 to CO in the reducing gas blown into the reduction furnace.
