Abstract:
 The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide a method for producing glutathione and γ-glutamylcysteine, which is a precursor of glutathione, at high yield. This method for producing glutathione includes, as a means for solving the above problem, a step A' for producing γ-glutamylcysteine by reacting L-cysteine and L-glutamic acid in a low-oxygen atmosphere, and a step B' for producing glutathione by reacting γ-glutamylcysteine and glycine in a low-oxygen atmosphere.
