Provided is a technique relating to: a composite obtained by supporting, on a carrier, at least one of an elemental metal or a metal compound, which has a small particle diameter and high dispersibility; and a slurry using said composite. This method for producing a composite obtained by supporting, on a carrier, at least one of an elemental metal or a metal compound comprises: a depressurizing step (S1-1) in which a dispersion liquid containing a solvent and the carrier is exposed at room temperature in a depressurized environment of less than 80 kPa (absolute pressure); a raw material mixed liquid preparation step (S1-2) in which a raw material mixed liquid is prepared by mixing the dispersion liquid with a metal ion supply agent that is a metal ion source of the elemental metal or metal compound; and a support step (S1-3) in which a reducing agent is mixed with the raw material mixed liquid and the metal simple substance or the metal compound is supported on the surface of the carrier.
