Abstract:
In order to operate a self-propelled agricultural machine with at least one working element, a driver assistance system is provided for generating control actions within the working machine, wherein a sensor arrangement is provided for generating information about the surroundings and the driver assistance system generates the control actions on the basis of the information about the surroundings. The sensor arrangement has a camera-based sensor system and a laser-based sensor system, which each generate sensor information about a predetermined, relevant surrounding area of the working machine. The output camera images are processed by an image processing system, wherein a sensor fusion module is provided which, according to the invention, fuses the processed output camera images with the sensor information of the laser-based sensor system. The image processing system contains a vegetation index algorithm followed by a noise filter followed by an adaptive threshold algorithm, so that the vegetation is separated from the ground.
