Abstract:
Provided are a method for manufacturing an optical member and technologies pertaining thereto, the method involving performing desired laser processing by: irradiating, with an ultrashort pulse laser, an anti-reflection film which is formed so as to cover an optical surface of an optical base material, and has a multilayer structure including a laminate of a low-refraction index layer and a high-refraction index layer; and partially removing a predetermined layer including the outermost layer of the multilayer structure, wherein the pulse width of the ultrashort pulse laser is equal to or greater than 10 femtoseconds and less than 100 picoseconds, the anti-reflection film includes a reaction layer which has relatively higher reactivity with respect to the irradiation of the ultrashort pulse layer than other layers included in the multilayer structure, and the reaction layer is at least partially removed by the irradiation, and thus, visible laser processing with visible light can be performed.
