This method for manufacturing a metal porous body formed from a metal material includes: a step for preparing the metal material and a shaped body containing a support powder; a step for generating a composite shaped body, in which the metal material is caused to infiltrate the shaped body by maintaining, for five minutes or longer, a heating temperature that is at least the melting point of the metal material but not higher than the melting point of the support powder, in a state where at least a portion of the shaped body is in contact with at least a portion of the metal material; and a step for obtaining the metal porous body by bringing at least a portion of the composite shaped body into contact with a first solvent, and removing at least a portion of the support powder from the composite shaped body. The metal material includes a first metal component containing aluminum, and the relative density of the shaped body is 50% to 99.9%.
