Abstract:
[Problem] Provided is a method for manufacturing a friction material, the method being capable of uniformly performing scorching treatment on the friction material up to a deep portion from the surface layer of the friction material in a short time. [Solution] This method for manufacturing a friction material includes a step for performing scorching treatment in which the surface of the friction material is heat-treated by a laser, wherein the friction material contains at least one black-based raw material in an amount of 5-25 wt% with respect to the total amount of a friction material composition, and the Lab value L* of the friction material surface before scorching treatment is made to be 20-60.
