Abstract:

The present invention discloses a method for remanufacturing bearings which uses a surface peening apparatus using an ultrasonic nanosurface reformer, a peening apparatus, or giant magnetostrictive materials to restore the tracks and balls or rollers of damaged or worn bearings in order to remove accumulated fatigue layers from the tracks and the balls or rollers and also to reform the surfaces at a nanostructural level so as to remanufacture bearings which are not inferior to new bearings in terms of longevity and performance. According to the present invention, the disclosed method for remanufacturing bearings comprises the steps of: preparation of a bearing to be remanufactured; initial processing of the surfaces of the track and the ball or roller of the prepared bearing according to the state of the surfaces; secondary processing using a surface peening apparatus using an ultrasonic nanosurface reformer, a peening apparatus, or giant magnetostrictive materials to reform the surfaces of the track and the ball or roller which have been initially processed; and readjustment of the gaps between the track and the ball or roller of the bearing which have undergone secondary processing, and assembly of the bearing.
