Abstract:
Disclosed are: a metal recovery method which can separate and recover a metal from wastewater rapidly and in a large quantity; a substance for use in the separation of a metal; and a water purification device utilizing the substance. Specifically disclosed are: a metal-separating substance which can be used for the recovery of a metal from wastewater, which is characterized by comprising a water-soluble polymer having an acidic group and an anion exchange resin; and a water purification device utilizing the metal-separating substance, which is characterized by comprising a first mixing vessel in which the wastewater is mixed with an aqueous solution of the water-soluble polymer having an acidic group and a second mixing vessel in which a solution produced by mixing the wastewater with the aqueous solution of the water-soluble polymer having an acidic group with an anion exchange resin, wherein a filter is arranged in the inferior part of the second mixing vessel, and the filter has pores so that the anion exchange resin can be held by the pores.
