Abstract:
Provided is a mechanical seal capable of ensuring sliding capability between sliding surfaces irrespective of the remaining amount of liquid between the sliding surfaces. A seal surface 11 of at least one sliding ring 10 is composed of a ring-shaped base material 12 that is attached to a housing 4-side member 5 or to a rotation shaft 1–side member 2A, and a resin material 13 that is attached to the base material 12. The resin material 13 is formed in a ring shape.
