Abstract:

A mechanical seal device according to an embodiment of the present invention is equipped with a sealing ring (13) attached to a protruding part (11a) protruding from a housing (11), a mating ring (23) attached to the end of a rotating shaft (21), and a welded bellows (15) inserted onto the protruding part (11a) and positioned between the housing (11) and the sealing ring (13). By pushing the sealing ring (13) with the welded bellows (15) in the axial direction to bring the sealing ring (13) into contact with the mating ring (23), it is possible to ensure a high pressing force, in particular an even pressing force across the entire circumference, while keeping the axial-direction and radial-direction sizes of the device small, and it is possible to achieve excellent liquid-tightness. In addition, the welded bellows (15) also functions as a seal member for stopping liquid that has leaked across an O-ring (14), and can achieve even more reliable liquid-tightness. As a result, it is possible to provide an outside-type mechanical seal device which can ensure excellent liquid-tightness in response to high rotational speed and high fluid pressure while keeping the size of the device small.
