Abstract:
Provided is a mat material comprising inorganic fibers, and an oil-like fiber-scattering inhibitor that is caused to adhere to the surface of the inorganic fibers, the adhering amount of the fiber-scattering inhibitor being 0.05-2.0% by weight, wherein the mat material is characterized in that the odor index, measured using an odor sensor, of the odor of the decomposition gas emitted when the mat is placed on a 500°C heat plate is 80 or less as a relative value, where the odor index of a mat in which an acrylic resin used as a fiber-scattering inhibitor adheres at 1.0% by weight is set at 130.
