Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a magnetostrictive power generation device which exhibits high power generation performance by maintaining a compressive strain to be applied to a magnetostrictive element high. The present invention provides a magnetostrictive element for power generation, the magnetostrictive element being formed of a multilayer body which comprises one or more electromagnetic steel sheet layers and one or more elastic material layers, wherein: each one of the electromagnetic steel sheet layers comprises at least one electromagnetic steel sheet; each one of the elastic material layers comprises at least one elastic material sheet; at least one of the elastic material layers comprises an austenitic stainless steel sheet that has a chemical composition containing, in mass%, 0.02-0.30% of C, 0.1-2.0% of Si, 4.5-12.0% of Mn, 5.0-8.0% of Ni, 16.0-22.0% of Cr and 0.1-0.5% of N; and the multilayer body has at least one brazed electromagnetic steel sheet-austenitic stainless steel sheet multilayer part wherein an electromagnetic steel sheet and an austenitic stainless steel sheet are bonded to each other by the intermediary of a brazing filler material.
