Abstract:
Provided is a magnetic recording medium with which a decrease in electromagnetic conversion characteristics can be suppressed. This magnetic recording medium is a tape-like magnetic recording medium, and comprises a substrate and a magnetic layer. The magnetic layer includes magnetic particles, wherein the magnetic particles include hexagonal ferrite. A ratio (Hc1/VXRD) of a coercive force Hc1 of a magnetic layer in the vertical direction of the magnetic recording medium to a crystallite volume VXRD of the magnetic particles as obtained by measuring a constituent material of the magnetic layer through the X-ray diffraction method is 1.80 to 2.50.
