Abstract:
A machined cage (1) for thrust ball bearing use and made from a copper alloy, wherein the inner surface of a pocket (2) has: a cylindrical surface (11); a support surface (12) connected to the cylindrical surface (11) and contacting a ball (5) in the axial direction; and two projecting sections (13) projecting from the cylindrical surface (11) and formed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the pocket (2) on the ball insertion side of the pocket (2) opposite the support surface (12) in the axial direction. The projecting sections (13) prevent the ball (5) from falling from the ball-insertion-side opening of the pocket (2), and are elastically deformed or elasto-plastically deformed by the ball (5) when the ball (5) is inserted into the pocket (2). As a result, it is possible to achieve a configuration which makes assembly of the ball into the pocket easy and makes it difficult for the ball to fall from the pocket, without sacrificing the function of the copper-alloy machined cage.
