Abstract:

Dimples (10) are provided in an overlap section (W) in which a piston ring (8) of the outer peripheral upper end of a piston and an oil ring (9) of the outer peripheral lower end of the piston overlap each other by reciprocating motion of the piston, the overlap section (W) being in a range of a cylinder inner wall surface (2a), below the lower edge of the openings of scavenging ports. Alternatively, surface roughness in the overlap stroke section (W) is set greater than that in other regions.
