Abstract:
Provided is a lock nut which is engaged with a male thread with good work efficiency and exhibits a retaining function. A lock nut includes: a primary nut member (2) configured so that, when the lock nut is engaged with a male thread (B2), the bottom surface (2B) of the primary nut member (2)will be pressed against a surface (C1) to be engaged; a secondary nut member (3) provided on the top surface (2A) side of the primary nut member (2), the top surface (2A) being the surface on the reverse side of the bottom surface (2B) of the primary nut member (2), and engaged along with the primary nut member (2) with the male thread (B2); a joint section (4) for joining and integrating the primary nut member (2) and the secondary nut member (3) and having lower tensile strength than both the primary nut member (2) and the secondary nut member (3); a lock pin insertion section (6) extending from the bottom surface (2B) of the primary nut member (2) to the top surface (2A) thereof; and a lock pin (5) fitted in the lock pin insertion section (6), the lock pin (5) being configured so that, during the operation of engaging the lock nut with the male thread (B2), the lock pin (5) will come in contact with the surface (C1) to be engaged, earlier than the primary nut member (2), the lock pin (5) thereby being pressed by the surface (C1) to press the auxiliary nut member (3) upward.
