Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a linear and rotary drive device which can maintain an output shaft in a prescribed position in the axial direction when the linear motion drive unit, which linearly drives the output shaft, is not being driven. [Solution] This linear and rotary drive device 1 comprises: an output shaft 2 which can move in the axial direction X and which is supported so as to be capable of rotating θ about the axis; a linear motion drive unit 22 which moves the output shaft 2 in the axial direction X; a rotation drive unit 21 for rotating the output shaft 2 θ about the axis; and a coil spring 78 which supports the output shaft 2 in a prescribed position in the axial direction X when the linear motion drive unit 22 is not being driven. When the linear and rotary drive device 1 is in a reference attitude, the prescribed position is the center position C of the stroke S described by the output shaft 2 in the axial direction X.
