Abstract:
Provided are a hard capsule shell film with light-shielding properties for use in pharmaceutical preparations and the like, a hard capsule shell, and a production method therefor. The hard capsule shell film is produced by means of a film-forming composition in which magnesium oxide, a substance conventionally safe for use as a pharmaceutical product, is used as a light-shielding agent instead of titanium oxide, a substance which raises health concerns. The light-shielding hard capsule shell is formed from the film. The hard capsule shell makes it possible to reduce the transmission of light and ultraviolet rays, and thus enables the stability and quality of a discretionary active ingredient with which the interior of the shell is filled to be maintained over a long period of time.
