Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a left and right wheel drive device that uses a torque difference amplification mechanism, wherein the occurrence of a large turning moment is suppressed and travel as far as a repair facility or the like is made possible even when the power of one of the power sources is interrupted. This left and right wheel drive device is provided with: two electric motors (2, 3) that are mounted in a vehicle and that can be controlled independently; left and right drive wheels (4L, 4R); and a gear device (5) which is provided between the electric motors (2, 3) and the left and right drive wheels (4L, 4R) and in which two planetary gear mechanisms (10A, 10B) each configured from a sun gear (S), a planetary carrier (C), and an internal tooth gear (R), are combined on the same axis. A clutch mechanism (20), which connects or disconnects, to or from each other, output shafts (2a, 3a) through which the output of the electric motors (2, 3) is transmitted, is provided upstream from the gear device (5), and the clutch mechanism (20) disconnects rotating shafts from each other during normal travel and connects the rotating shafts to each other when the output of one of the electric motors (2, 3) is interrupted.
