Abstract:

A cylinder tube manufacturing method includes a joining step in which, in a state in which a through hole (10A) of a tube body (10) and a projecting portion (21) of a head member (20) mate with one another with a prescribed clearance (25), an end surface (11) of the tube body (10) and a flange portion (22) are abutted against one another and are joined together by friction pressure welding. In the joining step, a non-contacting portion (22B) of the flange portion (22) of the head member (20) which faces the clearance (25) is heated by means of frictional heat generated as a result of relative rotation between the tube body (10) and the head member (20), and the non-contacting portion (22B) is joined to the tube body (10).
