Abstract:
Provided is a more economical method for obtaining a concentrated scandium solution from an acidic solution containing scandium by means of an ion exchange treatment that uses a chelating resin. This method is suppressed in deterioration of the chelating resin, thereby being suppressed in decrease of the scandium adsorption rate. An ion exchange method according to the present invention, wherein a concentrated scandium solution is obtained by subjecting an acidic solution containing scandium to an ion exchange treatment that uses a chelating resin, comprises: a step for having the acidic solution permeate through the chelating resin, thereby having the scandium adsorbed on the chelating resin; a step for eluting the scandium by bringing sulfuric acid into contact with the chelating resin after adsorption; and a cleaning step for cleaning the chelating resin after elution, so that the chelating resin after cleaning is used as the chelating resin that is used for adsorption in the adsorption step. In the cleaning step, the chelating resin after elution is cleaned with use of a cleaning solution in a state where the chelating resin is not in contact with an oxygen-containing gas.
