Abstract:
An in-wheel motor drive device 21 is provided with: a drive section A constituted by an electric motor 30; a speed reduction section B constituted by a parallel shaft gear speed reducer 38 comprising a plurality of gears 34-37; a bearing section C constituted by a bearing 48 for a wheel; and a casing 22 for accommodating the drive section A and the speed reduction section B. The parallel shaft gear speed reducer 38 has the fourth gear 37 for transmitting drive force to the bearing 48 for a wheel. The bearing 48 for a wheel is provided with: a pair of inner rings 49, 50 arranged affixed to the casing 22; an outer ring 51 rotatably supported relative to the casing 22; and balls 52, 53 arranged in double rows between the outer ring 51 and the inner rings 49, 50. The fourth gear 37 of the parallel shaft gear speed reducer 38 is disposed radially outside the outer ring 51. The inner rings 49, 50 are joined to a shaft section 47 axially extending from an intermediate wall 26 provided within the speed reduction section B. The intermediate wall 26 is connected, outside the casing 22, to a suspension arm 63.
