Abstract:

[Problem] To make it possible to immediately display an image of the range of vision of a user. [Solution] According to the present invention, an encoder encodes, for a pair of opposing surfaces from among a plurality of surfaces of a model for an omnidirectional image, a first composite image obtained by combining a high-resolution omnidirectional image of a first surface and a low-resolution omnidirectional image of a second surface, said low-resolution omnidirectional image having lower resolution, and a second composite image obtained by combining a high-resolution omnidirectional image of the second surface and a low-resolution omnidirectional image of the first surface. The present disclosure can be applied to an image display system, for example.
