In the present invention a dewatering tube (11) to which a plurality of openings (11b) are formed at a band-shaped section is provided to the interior of an external tube (3) of a hydrothermal processing device main body (1). An aperture section (11b) is occluded by organic sludge (31), spatially separating the interior of the dewatering tube (11) and the interior of the external tube (3), and steam in a subcritical state is supplied to the interior of the external tube (3) and the dewatering tube (11). The interior of the external tube (3) is opened, depressurizing to atmospheric pressure, a pressure differential is generated between the interior of the dewatering tube (11) and the interior of the external tube (3), and dewatering is performed causing the ambient pressure from the interior to the exterior of the dewatering tube (11) to act on the organic sludge (31). Alternatively, dewatering may also be performed using a pressing/agitating unit (13) that has: a feed agitation vane section (13b) that divides a helical shape in the radial direction as a semicircular shape; and a dewatering vane section (13a) that has a tubular shape as a band shape along the lengthwise direction.
