Abstract:
The present invention provides a hydraulic auto tensioner that is provided with: a cylinder (10); a valve sleeve (13) that is provided upright in the cylinder (10); a rod (14) that is provided in the valve sleeve (13); a pressure chamber (15) that is formed between the valve sleeve (13) and the rod (14); a reservoir chamber (24) that is formed between the cylinder (10) and the valve sleeve (13); and a plunger (28) that can slide against the valve sleeve (13) and the rod (14) in the axial direction. During the normal operation of an engine (E), hydraulic oil flows from the pressure chamber (15) into the reservoir chamber (24) through a first constricted path (31) between the rod (14) and the plunger (28). Meanwhile, when the engine is restarted by an ISG (51), the hydraulic oil flows from the pressure chamber (15) into the reservoir chamber (24) through a second constricted path (32) between the valve sleeve (13) and the plunger (28).
