Abstract:
A plunger (30) capable of sliding along the inner-diameter surface of a valve sleeve (14) and the outer-diameter surface of a rod (15) is fitted onto the lower end of the rod (15), and a valve hole (33) is provided in a base plate (31) of the plunger (30). A first leakage clearance (L1) is provided between the sliding surfaces of the plunger (30) and the valve sleeve (14), and a second leakage clearance (L2) is provided between the sliding surfaces of the plunger (30) and the rod (15). When the engine is operating normally oil in a pressure chamber (16) leaks into a reservoir chamber (24) from the second leakage clearance (L2), which has a small flow path resistance. However, when the engine is started by a starter/generator (2), the plunger (30) is raised and the valve hole (33) closes, and the oil in the pressure chamber (16) leaks into the reservoir chamber (24) from the first leakage clearance (L1), which has a large flow path resistance, so that a belt (4) is held with the appropriate tension.
