Abstract:
Provided is a honeycomb structure which has a high isostatic strength and with which a reduction in pressure loss can be achieved. The honeycomb structure comprises a columnar honeycomb structure portion 4 that has porous separating walls 1 arranged so as to enclose a plurality of cells 2 forming fluid flow passages extending from a first end surface 11 to a second end surface 12, and an outer peripheral wall 3 arranged so as to surround the separating walls 1, wherein, in a cross section perpendicular to the direction in which the cells 2 of the honeycomb structure portion 4 extend, the shape of each cell 2 is a polygonal shape having arcuate corner portions 6, the thickness T1 [mm] of the separating walls 1 is 0.0500 to 0.1400 mm, the radius of curvature R1 [mm] of the arcuate corner portions 6 of the cells 2 and the thickness T1 [mm] of the separating walls 1 satisfy the relationship in expression (1), the outer diameter of the honeycomb structure portion 4 is 190.5 to 355.6 mm, and the porosity of the separating walls 1 is 20 to 40%.
